"Catnip"

A Poem

“Catnip”

What are wealthy men 
to rocks and mountains?
I don’t know, Ms. Austen. 
What are teenage girls 
to oceans and islands?
Has fourteen-year-old flesh
ever been truly forbidden, 
if even the existence 
of men's beloved mothers,
sisters, and daughters
couldn’t convince them? 

After all, 
their drug of choice
has an expiration date. 
Like catnip,
rubbing one's body 
up against it
is just the bait.
For them, it is easy
to turn off the noise.
Sex is just another 
one of life's little joys. 

Beautiful harems &
herds of bison--
all the promised
heart-healthy options. 
Little do they know,
a deathly switch
sits dormant
just beyond the horizon. 
Therein lies a pimp's
final will and testament.

So reads the epigram:
"Man's final frontier has always been 
a woman's oldest career."
